  • I'm lagging...
  • OH MY GOD!!! It's been 3 months since I got my foot in New Orleans, LA. The experiences so far were good. I had down time and some good time... It's hard to live in the new country and being alone. It's like to start all over again... My life and working life. By the way, for friends that eager for me to update this blog, I only can say sorry for the delay... It's hard to get a PC and to write my experiences here, because it's expensive for me to go to cyber cafe. The cheapest that I can get is about USD7.50 per hour. I can't use the office PC to write my blog, I can only check emails that's all, and I can't use it everyday. So that's the reason. So guys, I'm sorry...

Ok, I just want to let you guys know that I have fun here... with some of my new friends and by myself. But I just want to let you guys know that New Orleans it's not an exiciting as what I had expected. Seriously, if your are tourist, YES it's fun and very nice city, but living here, there's nothing much to do. But the people here most of the time are friendly.

My flight took me about 30hours. It was exshauted! My journey to Singapore was excellent because I flew with MAS!!! Singapore to Tokyo I flew with Northwest and it was just good. I got extra seat next to me. And I got to see Mount Fuji! I took some photo of it too!! I flew in the new Airbus so it's comfortable but I couldn't get sleep. Flight from Tokyo to St. Paul was exhausted! REALLY!! I flew in very old and tired Boeing 747. I sat next to a Korean girl, but we didn't talk at all!! I slept most of the time and listening to my iPod. Oh by the way, getting an iPod before leaving was a FANTASTIC idea. It kept me a company all the time. Surprisingly the food in the flight was good, except for breakfast! Thank God that I bought some bun back in Batu Pahat before leaving to KL. Oh by the way, a huge group of my family members was there to send me off. I miss them so much! Back to the story.. anyway, the whole journey was a good exposure to me... on how to survive on long flying journey...

Ok, as soon as I touched down in MSY (New Orleans, as for a airport code), I was greeted by Jeremy. He is one of the manager here in the Cullinary team. The weather was excellent! I got a bad news from him. Marriott did not have any room for me to stay because I come at the peak season, MARDI GRAS! So I stayed with Jeremy for a week. Oh by the way, Jeremy married with my senior in KDU. She was an intern before me. And she's in Malaysia rite now. I don't really know her, but before I left M'sia, one of my lecture told me that she's married with local, but I didn't expected that she's married with the manager! Anyway, she's trying to get a US PR.

After a week staying with Jeremy, finally I got myself a room in Marriott. I stayed there for almost a month before I moved to a new place. The first few months working was hectic, Mardi Gras and lots of big functions.. I had to work for an average of 12 hours a day. But the money at the end of the week was awesome! But it was a crucial time for me, since Marriott trying to kick me out from the room (they changed the key card almost 2 to 3 times a week and I had to go down to front desk to get a new key card) and had to find a room for me. So finally I got a room about 2 miles away from working place. It enviroment isn't that good. It's a black area, where they tend to look at me different kind of way. Because they thought that I'm a hispanic. Actually most of the people thought that I'm a hispanic. They assumed that I can speak Spanish, but si mi habla espanol. Just a little, but I can understand of the time... anyway.. The rooms is average size and it's comfortable. Then the next week I had to spend almost a thousand dollar for bed sheet, bicycle (it's a cool American bicycle), a speaker for my iPod (Altec Lansing iMotion 3) and other stuffs (laundry and cleaning product)...

I hang-out with few new friends, like Laura (she's a crazy little girl), Stacy (a womenly girl), Dawn and her neighbour (outrageous people , in a good way) and other students doing their training here. Oh by the way, most of the managers and staffs are friendly and very helpful. I'm very greatfull to meet and working with them, although not all are great.. you know what I'm talking about rite? But I just act natural with those people.. And by the way, they called me chinito (chinese boy) or crazy malaysian... hahaha..

Mardi Gras was nothing to tell except that I saw few boobs.. and got lot's of beads. What I can tell is that, Mardi Gras would be excellent for people who want to get hooked and drunk! But I stay safe, I didn't go out on mardi gras night. Oh, but the floats and the bands were incredible!! I enjoyed watching them. It was awesome!!

Oklaa.. that's all I can write for now. I'm not so sure when I will write again... I miss u guys a lot!! Next month gonna be New Orleans Jazz Festival, I will not miss it for the world!!
